Earth Day Green Activities for Family
On April 22 every year billions of people throughout the world celebrate Earth Day to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment for the planet. Earth day is also a fabulous time to arrange some fun activities for the whole family. Here are some fun tips to enjoy earth day with your kids and family.
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle: Reduce using single use plastic bag at your every trip to the grocery store. Carry Green to celebrate Earth Day. Carry cotton bags and jute bags at office, shopping or parties. Create your earth day gifts by using ecofriendly, recyclable bags. Gift earth Day tote jute, cotton bags to your friends and families. Support the Earth Day by reduce, reuse and recycle.
Use egg cartons to pant seed. Use plastic ice-cream tub as a flower pot. Use recyclable jute bags in grocery stores. Plant seeds in an egg carton. Make a flower pot out of a plastic ice cream tub. By thinking creatively, you will often find innovative uses common items and unique ways to recycle and reduce waste
Use less water:Use a fully loaded dishwasher. The same applies for washing machine too. Do not pre-rinse dishes in the dishwasher. By pre rinsing dishes you may use 20 gallons of more water. Look for energy saving dishwasher and washing machine.
Save energy: Use less energy. Leave your car at least twice a week and do carpool commuting to your work place. Do fewer trips to the shopping stores and instead do more online shopping. Look for ecofriendly, recyclable goods while shopping. Save electricity by turning off lights and putting lids on pots. This way you'll reduce air pollution and reduce carbon footprint. Eventually you will save a lot of money.
Take a part in tree planting effort: Take a shovel, some seeds and plant some trees. Whether you sow a seed in the ground or plant a rose tree, the goal is to teach your family the benefit of the green environment and how tree planting can reduce carbon footprint.
Organize a walk day: Set up a road runners/walkers club within your community and friend’s circle. Organize a walk day at least twice a week. Not only walking/running will keep you healthy and fit, but would encourage others not to use cars at every trip.
Celebrate meatless Mondays:Take a pledge on Earth day to have a meatless Monday every week. Average Americans eat at least 200lb of meat per year. Meat is the primary cause for obesity, cancer in America. Eat lots of vegetables, lentils and fruits at least once a week to stay healthy and fit.
